change font size in jce html view

To change the size of the font displayed in JCE's text editor for the HTML view,

  1. Open your site in your favorite ftp application
  2. Navigate to the "editor.css" file.
    File Location: [root] -> components -> com_jce -> editor -> libraries -> css -> editor.css
  3. Open the editor.css file in a text editor.
  4. On line 30 (or there about) look for "font-size". In my version, it was "font-size: 1.1em;"
    The surrounding code:
    textarea.wfEditor, textarea.wfNoEditor {
        background: #FFFFFF none;
        font-family: monospace;
        font-size: 1.5em; /*1.1em;*/
        color: #333;
        line-height: 16px;
        position: relative;
        border: 1px solid #CCCCCC;
    1. To remove its connection to whatever base font size change this to a specific pixel size.
    2. To keep the relationship, use a larger "em". I used 1.5, which made it legible.
  5. Save
  6. Check the size in your editor before closing the text editor and ftp application, in case you need to adjust the size further.

This should fix the problem of a font too small to read. Of course, to reduce the size of the font simply use a lower number than the 1.1 em in the editor file.
